Giants. We have all had to face a giant in our life. You may be wondering, “What is a giant?” My personal working definition of a giant is “an insurmountable circumstance, hardship, obstacle, problem, situation, or temptation that seems humanly or naturally impossible to gain advantage or leverage over.” So that we may have a better understanding of the giant(s) we have faced, or currently face, let’s look at a few examples:
A Giant May Be –
- Something that terrifies or intimidates us
- Those experiences that have rocked our world
- People, places, or things that we have given power over us
- A memory that puts us on the defensive and shakes our very core
- Someone or something that makes you feel undeserving
- Whatever you continue to lend yourself over to that renders you helpless
- Old relationships that presently control you
- The thing that different people have identified as a giant in your life, but you continue to deny
Giants can derive from Abuse. Denial. Failed Relationships. Fear. Intimidation. Low Self-Esteem. Rejection and so forth. Giants affect you emotionally, mentally, physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
It is imperative that you identify and deal with the giant; otherwise, it has the propensity to limit you as it pertains to your destiny, dreams, and purpose.
I challenge you to begin thinking about the giant you currently face. Write down ways that you feel hindered because you have not dealt with this giant.
Read and study the story of David and Goliath. Pray and ask God for the strength to overcome the giant in your life.
Let me encourage you today. There is a giant in you that was created before the foundation of the world! I would say to you, “Go with the strength you already have, God will help you face this giant that desires to stop you! Not only will you face this giant, you will WIN!”
“Sometimes God will put a Goliath in your life, for you to find the David within you.” -whisper
